SAM Workshop | Go Outside and Paint with Gail Denton | Friday, June 14, 2024.

Come along with energetic Colorado Plein Air Painter Gail Denton as she leads the way to successful outdoor painting!

Whether you are newly curious, always wanted to but needed more information, or you want to get back into it, this workshop will give you the tools. You will learn what to take, where to go, when to go, how to choose your location and scene, what to wear, how to keep your painting and gear simple, and the true benefits of painting ‘in the light’.

This supportive painting experience comes with tips to make it easier, more fun and less complex when painting in nature. With encouragement, this outing offers you a clear view into the adventure of plein air painting. Get a great template for ‘how it’s done’, and find yourself doing it too!

Gain new skills tailored to outdoor painting: planning where to go, with whom, when; what to wear referencing season, terrain and weather; choosing your set-up location (safe parking, restroom, shade and level ground); taking gear that works and placing it advantageously; choosing then managing your scene (which chunk of the wide world will fit onto your canvas?); and finally, proceeding to paint!

Gail will demo her full set-up, from the back of the car to ‘paint-ready’. Ask all your questions! Take all your photos. All the steps will be shown! She will provide you with a resource list for everything she presents. Included is a scene finding tool that helps you choose a scene, place your focal point and indicate the best canvas size for your scene. It’s such a game changer.

Let’s go outside and paint! All mediums welcome.

$75/student. Space is limited for this workshop, so register today by completing the form below.
